Living with and treating Rosacea can be unbearable at times. Luckily, I have found a solution that works best for me. If you suffer from Rosacea, then keep on reading.
As many of you know, I have been treating my rosacea for a long time. I never knew what it was in high school and left it untreated. It wasn’t until I had my daughter at 20, that it became increasingly worse, and at time debilitating. Makeup was my rescue and often times how I felt comfortable dealing with it.
I have tried every product that has labeled itself as the “cure”(which there isn’t a true cure) or “treatment” for rosacea. I have searched high and low for some relief and let me share with you, investing so much time into worry about my skin, especially the skin on my face, was more crippling than the normal anxiety triggers I have in daily life for other sources.
About a year ago, I started using Hilltop Designs HD products on my skin. It was brought to my attention from a wonderful friend, who deals with other skin issues and I thought, what else could hurt? I have come this long without a solution, what is one more to add to the pile? I reference in this blog post the amazing products I have tried and loved thus far but really nothing compares to the following products paired together. Friends, believe me when I say, I have found the thing that is closest to any treatment or cure for my rosacea. Keep in mind, all skin types are different, so what may work for me and my rosacea, may not work for yours but the principal is this: I stripped the use of all chemicals from my skin and regardless of what I am putting on it, if it doesn’t have a chemical in it, my skin is here for it.
Morning Skincare Routine:
The Bergamot soap does a wonderful job refreshing my skin and also removing the slough from the night. Following this, I use my sage toner and this vitamin E cream before sunscreen/makeup application.
Evening Skincare Routine:
For removing makeup at night, I think this charcoal bar does the best job. It really gets into the pores but is not abrasive or “scratch” my cheeks where most of my rosacea appears.
After the charcoal, I use this avocado soap. With this soap, I use just enough water to get it off the bar and on to my hands but thick enough it creates a “paste” and I then spend time really massaging it into my cheeks and forehead with my fingertips. I do leave it sit for 15-20 seconds before gently massaging it off in circular motions with warm water. Following this, the sage toner is pressed into my skin with a cotton round.
This is where the magic happens: Jewelweed balm. Friends, this is the game changer. I apply a thin to moderate amount on my cheeks and forehead. It smells heavenly and has reduced my inflammation noticeably. It is also heavy enough that is continues to moisturize my skin through the night. I wake up with almost no redness and it has decreased the feeling on sore skin tremendously.

This was when I was trying to treat it with abrasive chemicals and literally anything that would try and help. Also, one of the only pictures that I voluntarily took without makeup on.
