Now that I have a longer commute, I often struggle on fitting everything that I would like to fit in during my day. With my previous position, I was able to read more, spend more time in my notebook making my beloved lists, etc. When I first starting commuting, I would often say that it was kind of boring, until I reawakened my senses and starting using some of those handy ways of being more productive in my commute, while still remaining a safe driver.
Audible is a great way for me to get in my book club “reading” and still feel like I am involved in a book. Recently, I haven’t been able to read at night or during the day, as before, so this is a wonderful alternative.
The notes section on my phone has really gotten some use. I am able to talk to text within that app, so it makes it a wonderful tool for me to be able to brain dump. This is also a bonus because it helps to clear my mind and it really has become a little journal for me. When I get home, I am able to read back through to delegate and filter what needs immediate attention that I have thought of during my commute.
Making those phone calls getting in appointments for Daniella, the husband or myself, has also become a favorite task of my morning commute.
Podcasts are a close second to my audible. They have some really good content loaded on there and if I would otherwise take notes while listening, I just simply pause and talk to text into my notes app. Of course, while still continuing to be safe on the road.
I have a total of two hours in the car Monday – Friday and let me tell you, I feel like I am more productive in those two hours than when I get home at night. Commuting doesn’t have to be a daunting task; it can actually still be very productive while remaining safe to your surroundings!
